Using a Laptop On the Go Productively |
It's important that your programs and files are all easy to access, you could do that by adding them to your task bar, dock or dash (depending on your OS). If you open more than 3 windows at once you could try using multiple workspaces, or split view which is basically two windows side by side, but if you prefer using full-sized windows, you can switch between them easily with Alt+Tab.
Master the keyboard
The proper and fastest way to type is to rest your finger on the keyboard by placing each of your index fingers on the keys "F" and "J", notice that each of these two keys has a bump, that's there to help you find them without looking, place your middle fingers on "D" and "K" and the rest in the same order. You also need to start using keyboard shortcuts instead of reaching for your trackpad, for example Ctrl+C to copy Ctrl+V to paste.

Enable and use helpful track pad gestures
If using the trackpad buttons bothers you, then you could just use only the the trackpad, almost all the new trackpads support features like: tap to click, two fingers tap to right click, even a three fingers tap, you could also scroll with two fingers, drag with two taps and slide and a lot more.

Get organized
There are a lot of programs out there that will help you get things done, whether you want to take notes, set reminders or organize your tasks. One amazing app is Wunderlist, it works on all platforms and it's free, but if you don't like adding more software to your computer, just go ahead and create a todo.txt file and write all you notes, tasks or whatever you want in it.
Know what you do and do it better
Everything suggested above is general and not specific, depending on what you use your computer for there are different tricks to use, you just have to be curious about how it works, and not be afraid of trying new ways to get it done.
